Positioning

What AstraVeris is. AstraVeris is an independent space-finance intelligence platform. It publishes a weekly analyst briefing, a 17-factor Space Accessibility Index (SAI), an 11-factor company risk score (ARI) across 100+ public and tracked private space companies, and a live launch-reliability dataset covering 7,000+ flights. Every metric is derived from public-source data and every calculation is documented in the public methodology.

What’s novel. Three things are new: (1) a Success / Partial-Failure / Failure (S/PF/F) reliability split that the space-insurance market already uses but that no public tracker consistently publishes; (2) a debt-maturity-wall extraction pipeline that pulls tranche-level data directly from 10-K footnotes; and (3) an Ollama-first architecture that runs all high-volume inference locally on Gemma, so institutional-grade analytics ship without institutional-grade cloud bills.

Who it’s for. Three audiences, one dataset. Consumer: space-curious readers and retail investors who want a senior-analyst briefing on the week’s capital flows instead of trade-press aggregation. Insurance: underwriters and MGAs pricing launch, hull, and in-orbit risk against vehicle reliability curves that go deeper than S/F. Government: SBIR/STTR program managers, DIU, SpaceWERX, and SDA evaluating commercial partners with a transparent scoring stack that maps cleanly to EAR99 / CMMC workflows.

Seradata tells you what flew and what failed; AstraVeris tells you what’s about to lose money.

HEADSHOT
PENDING
Brandon M.
Founder, AstraVeris
AstraVeris was founded to close the analytical gap between the space industry’s operational growth and the financial community’s ability to underwrite it. Brandon built the platform after years of watching launch cadence, constellation deployment, and government program flows remain trapped in trade-press prose when they should have been structured data feeding risk models and investment committees. The editorial voice is a single analyst’s view — opinionated, specific, grounded in primary sources. Every metric ships with published methodology; every deal mention leads with the capital-markets “so what.”

Suggested Story Angles

Five data-backed angles with live hooks into the AstraVeris dataset. Each is on-record and sourced.

  • 1. The space-sector debt wall coming due — tranche-level for the first time
    Hook → finance.json · market_overview.debt_* · 15 public issuers, 29 tranches extracted from 10-K footnotes; $10.95B aggregate principal across the index.
  • 2. Why Falcon 9 Block 5 reliability matters for the 2026 insurance market
Hook → 99.79% success rate across 469 Block 5 flights vs. Lloyd’s Llift Space consortium cap of $25M/risk and a market running loss ratios near 178% in 2023.
  • 3. Private space-finance data is locked up at Seradata — here’s the methodology in the open
Hook → /methodology/ publishes every weight, every data source, every confidence tag. No NDA, no subscription gate.
  • 4. The S/PF/F reliability split the insurance market already prices against but doesn’t publish
    Hook → Success / Partial-Failure / Failure three-bucket outcomes, per-vehicle, Wilson-lower-bound on small-N variants, with Falcon 9 explicitly split at Block 5 boundary.
  • 5. How Ollama + Gemma make institutional-grade space-finance data affordable
Hook → Zero cloud-LLM inference bills on high-volume summarization, tagging, and 10-K debt extraction. Claude only invoked for the weekly Deep Dive (~$0.50–$2/issue).
